At Primary Eyecare Optometrics, we’re committed to providing the finest full scope vision and eye health care available. It’s the same commitment Dr. Leonard Osias started with over 50 years ago. From instrumentation and techniques to this web site, we believe in utilizing state-of-the-art technology in our practice. Employing the highest quality materials and professional staff, we serve the eye care needs of people of all ages. Education is a major component of our practice.

Vision Testing Eye Health Testing

Our comprehensive eye examination includes not only vision testing, but also eye health testing including the diagnosis of eye diseases. We are also prepared to do other specialized diagnostic testing when indicated.

VDT Exam

The VDT (Video Display Terminal) examination was designed to be a primary care examination with special emphasis on the needs of the VDT user. We use the PRIO diagnostic system for accurate simulation of the computer screen during the examination.

Pediatric Eye Care

Pediatric eye care is an area of special interest to our doctors, and an area of special emphasis at Primary Eyecare Optometrics.

Babies’ vision can be tested at a young age (we prefer to see children for the first time between six and 36 months of age), and early intervention of a vision problem is important to allow normal development.

Multidisciplinary Care & Referral

Drs. Osias, Dea, and Sakai are certified in the removal of foreign bodies from the eye and the treatment of many eye infections and conditions. They advance their knowledge in these areas through continuing education.

If you have a general health or eye condition requiring additional expertise, you will be referred to the appropriate provider for further diagnosis and treatment.

Drs. Osias, Dea, and Sakai work closely with local professionals and specialists from major health centers. Our doctors provide pre- and post-surgical care at our office, for everything from cataract removal to refractive surgery.

Refractive Surgery Evaluation & Consultation

Refractive surgery has resulted in freedom from glasses and contact lenses for thousands of patients. Refractive surgery involves a variety of procedures including AK (astigmatic keratotomy), PRK (photorefractive keratectomy), ALK (automated lamellar keratoplasty), and LASIK (laser in-situ keratomileusis). These procedures can correct a wide range of nearsightedness and astigmatism, and LASIK can even correct modest amounts of farsightedness, offering more alternatives for a variety of lifestyles.

With careful examination and evaluation, our doctors can determine whether refractive surgery is an option for you.

Vision Therapy & Training

Primary Eyecare Optometrics is a leader in diagnosing and treating vision disorders. Even with 20/20 vision, breakdowns in processing can occur as a result of trauma, learning disability or poor ergonomics. We can often correct these breakdowns and help achieve full visual performance…whether it’s overcoming learning problems or traumatic brain injury, or maximizing sports performance.

Low Vision Care

The vast majority of low vision patients do not receive the low vision care they need. Through special low vision examinations, testing and optical aids, we help our low vision patients enjoy a higher quality of life – including patients who are legally blind.

Savings Programs

With all of our services, we offer several savings programs building on everyday affordability. We offer a 20% savings on your second pair of glasses (if purchased within 90 days) and a 20% savings on eyewear for patients purchasing contact lenses. We also have an affordable monthly payment program. Please call the office for details.

Insurance

At Primary Eyecare Optometrics, we are acutely aware of the rapidly changing face of third party health care, especially as it pertains to eye care insurance. We are continually reviewing insurance panels in an effort to make our services as available as possible. Please feel free to ask us about your insurance.

Something Different...

You'll notice that there are not a lot of email links on this site where you can get all kinds of automated responses signups. That's because the doctor-patient relationship is a personal one--and cannot be replaced by anything other than personal contact. Sure, we use fax, but that's for billing, insurance, and administrative issues. We like the telephone because it's personal and interactive. And, most of all, we like to see people, because that's where people really communicate.

So, please take sometime and acquaint yourself with us and our practice. And then, give us a call at 510-276-7080.

BTW, this site requires late-version browsers and JavaScript. Without those, you will not get the full benefit of what the site offers.
